The Louvre has placed all of its collections on an online platform

The French Louvre Museum has launched an online platform that showcases all of the museum’s exhibits. More than 480,000 works of art can be viewed online for free.

The site features collections from eight departments, from Renaissance sculptures to ancient Egyptian art and paintings by artists from around the world.

The platform features an interactive map that allows you to “wander” through the museum and explore artworks room by room. Museum experts will regularly update the site as the museum’s collection expands.

“Today, the Louvre is dusting off its treasures, even the little-known ones,” commented Jean-Luc Martinez, President and Director of the Louvre. “For the first time, anyone can access the entire collection of works for free from a computer or smartphone, regardless of whether they are on display in the museum or on temporary loan. I am sure that this digital content will further inspire people to come to the Louvre to see the collections in person.”
